Mindfulness changed my life more than 15 years ago- I went from being stressed out and sick, to having tools that could help me feel better. Years ago, I made it my mission to others who feel stressed and overwhelmed. It stated with my own life, then I began to research mindfulness, and now I’m bringing what I’ve found to you.

Course Overview

9/25: What is Mindfulness: Just Breathe

This week I’ll introduce you to mindfulness, the evidence, learn about how to direct your attention, why it’s important, and how we usually get off track. This is an interactive class, so questions are welcome and you’ll also receive weekly practice assignments.

10/2: Come to your senses

Week 2 is all about broadening the awareness-  the sounds we hear, the sights, and tastes can all bring us back to the present. Again, we’ll practice this together, there will be guided meditations, discussions, and time for questions.

10/9: Mindfulness into movement

Week 3 will be about using a mindful movement practice in our daily lives- walking, yoga, or just washing the dishes are all done in movement. How can we stay present in this moment, while our body is taking us through our lives?

10/16: Eat your way to peace

Since we eat multiple times a day, eating offers us an opportunity to come back to the present moment in an everyday activity. Our final discussion will be how to fully integrate this in our lives, and how to continue to use mindfulness.

Why Mindfulness?

Everyday Mindfulness is an online class designed with you in mind. You are busy. Always on the go. You never feel like you can catch up or catch a break. Perhaps you have heard of the benefits of this thing called “mindfulness.” It would be ‘good’ to do, but who has the time?

This 4-week class will teach mindfulness in a way that is easy to understand and apply to your life. We’ll have weekly phone calls and you’ll be given simple assignments to practice. Things you can do WHILE you are living your busy life. All calls will be recorded, so if you can’t attend a call live, no worries. You can just catch up on the videos and recording and still participate in the Facebook group conversations (call recordings may be used in a future Everyday Mindfulness product).

And the best news? There is plenty of evidence that mindfulness works! That’s right- science can back up all the claims. Everything from feeling happier, boosting attention and immune function, to feeling less pain. Mindfulness is an ancient technique with modern day science for proof. How do I know this? For over 12 years, I’ve been researching how mindfulness can help people! Weather you want more support, or the class only version, there are options that fit your life.

Rebecca Shisler MarshallMeet Rebecca

Rebecca began her journey with mindfulness in 2005, when she attended Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction training with Jon Kabat-Zinn and Saki Santorelli. After two master’s degrees and a PhD, she describes herself as a recovering stress addict. She is mother of two energetic boys, an associate professor at UGA, and founder of Centered Living, coaching for mind, body, and spirit. Rebecca empowers people to heal dis-ease and busyness, to reach peace and calm through self-compassion and self-care. Most days you can find her researching alternative post-stroke treatments, teaching, coaching people who are stressed, practicing mindfulness and yoga, or hiking.
